The IHSG Conference is a biennial conference to share latest research developments in pasture (herbage) seed research.
The 12th IHSG Conference will be held in Launceston, Tasmania, from 16-19 November 2025, and is being proudly organised by TSIG on behalf of the international IHSG committee.
The objective of the IHSG Conference is the exchange and presentation of research work carried out world-wide on pasture/forage crops and turf for seed production. Problems encountered in seed production are common to the various seed production countries.
Past conferences have seen delegates from a range of seed production countries attend - from New Zealand to Denmark, USA to China, and France to Argentina.
We look forward to seeing you at this world-class event promoting research, development and extension (RD&E) to promote the Tasmanian, Australian and global seed production industry.
International Herbage Seed Group
The International Herbage Seed Group (IHSG) started with the International Herbage Seed Production Research Group (IHSPRG) in 1978.
For over four decades, the IHSG has encouraged “cooperation and communication between workers actively engaged in herbage seed production research, ” by encouraging cooperation and communication between international scientists involved in seed production in:
Herbage/pasture seed - e.g. ryegrass, fescue, bromegrass
Turf seed
Forage legume seed - mainly clover and lucerne/alfalfa.
The IHSG is run by a volunteer committee of experts from major international seed production countries. The current President is Richard Chynoweth (Ph.D.) from the Foundation for Arable Research, New Zealand, and Vice-President is Nicole Anderson (Ph.D.) from the USA.
